Reciclando confusiones ... Recycling confusions

Recuerdan mi primer bloque del Sampler de Esperanza? Si..el que hice muy pequeño...

Bueno, el pobre ya tenia dias mirandome con cara de "y ahora que vas a hacer conmigo"...

Asi es que lo he querido sacar de su tristeza y convertirlo en algo util...

Remember my first block for Esperanza's Sampler? The one a cut too small...?

Well, the poor thing's been giving me the "what are you going to do next with me" type of

look...that I decided to wipe that sadness and make him something usefull.

Lo primero que hice fue doblarlo a la mitad dos veces y planchandolo bien para que me quedara una cruz en medio... Espero que se note un poco...

First I folded twice and iron well till I got a cross in the middle... Hope you can see it...

Planche lo suficientemente fuerte para que se marcara bien de ambos lados...

I put enough presure to mark it on both sides...

Luego lleve las puntas hacia el centro de la cruz.... y cosi a la

maquina tres lados completos...

I took the corners and folded towards the center of the cross....

and sew three of the sides...

En el cuarto lado solo he cosido hasta la mitad...dejando

una abertura para voltear y rellenar...

The fourth one I sewed just half way... leaving a little opening

to turn it and stuff it...

Ya volteado, me asegure de sacar bien las puntas... para

que el cuadrado quedara simetrico...

Once turned, I made sure the corners we pushed out completely so

the square is symmetric...

Luego rellene con fibra de polyester ( fiberfill) de manera

que quedara bien tupido pero parejo...

Then I stuffed it with fiberfill until it was tight...

Y por ultimo lo he adornado un poquito... y listo!!

Un lindo acerico!!....

And last but not least I embellished it a little bit... and viola!!

A beautiful pincushion...!!

Fence Rail 9" y Segundo Objetivo Sal Corazones

El Fence Rail de 9"...

Luego de escoger las telas corte las tiras de 1.5 pulgadas...

After I chose the fabrics I cut strips of 1.5 "

Cosi las tiras entre si de oscuro a claro...

I sewed them together from dark to light...

Haciendo costuras de 1/4"... Si tienen una guia en su maquina no se olviden de usarla...

Working with a 1/4" seam... without forgetting the guide on the sewing machine...

Luego de coser... planche las tiras....

After I sewed the strips I ironed them..

Procurando que todas las costuras quedasen hacia la tela oscura...

Making sure that all the seams were leaning towards the dark fabric...

Luego corte de la tira, nueve cuadritos de 3.5"...

Then I cut the strips into 3.5" squares...

Y los acomode formando un patron...

And arranged them in a pattern...

El proximo paso fue pegar los cuadritos...

The next step was to sew the squares...

Comenzando de izquierda a derecha para formar tres unidades de tres...

Starting from left to right and forming units of three...

No hay que olvidarse de prensar o planchar muy bien nuestras costuras para que no nos quede el bloque con "bultos"...

We can't forget to press or iron our seams so there are no bulky spots...

Y ahi lo tienen... el BLOQUE RAIL FENCE de 9"

And there you have it... the 9" RAIL FENCE BLOCK

Aqui esta por la parte de atras....

And here is the back...

Este es mi segundo objetivo terminado del Sal de corazones de Cristina... Este estuvo lindo y facil de hacer... se ve muy delicado..me gusto mucho...

This is my second heart in Cristina's Stitch Along... It is a very nice pattern y easy to make... it looks very delicate ...I liked it a lot...

En lugar de usar hilo matizado decidi usar DMC #815 y DMC #760

Instead of using the variegated thread I decided to used DMC #815 and DMC # 760

Y esta es la parte de atras del trabajo... ahora ...a esperar el tercero...

And this is the back of my work... Now...I have to wait for the third one...

Pulgadas y Corazones 1er Objetivo..../ Inches and Hearts 1st block

Chic@s... las pulgadas NO tienen ningun problema siempre he trabajado con ellas ... la que se ha equivocado soy yo... ya que pense que Esperanza queria el blog de18 CON costuras... y era 18 MAS COSTURAS... Asi es que MEA CULPA...! Y que se hace en estos casos? pues... lo correcto!! empezar de nuevo!! Asi es que mas tarde ...pondre una entrada con el nuevo bloque y las medidas para que me salga de nueve pulgadas MAS COSTURAS...

Disculpen la confusion...

Guys... There is NO problem with inches, I've always work with them.... It's just that I misunderstood Esperanza.... she wanted an 18 inches block PLUS seams..and I thought it was 18 inches WITH seams... so... MEA CULPA!! And what to do in this cases? well... the right thing!! Start over!! So later on today... I will post my block again with measurements for a 9" block PLUS seams...

No les ha pasado??~~ Have this ever happened to you??

No les ha pasado que cuando tienen tres y cuatro proyectos "andando" es cuando se les "antoja" hacer "algo mas"...aunque.... "sea chiquito"?? Bueeeeno... eso es precisamente lo que me ha pasado hoy... ( y un millon de veces antes :P ) Ya saben que como muchas estoy con El Sampler... Los corazones....El biscornu y scissors Fob...Inter rojos corazones... y demas cositas.... pero hoy... luego de estar un rato con el bordado de el corazon... y reirme de mi misma porque pienso que me ha salido cualquier cosa menos hojas bordadas... me dije... voy a "despejarme con algo diferente" jajaja... Como nos buscamos excusas para meternos en mas lios no??

Asi es que termine haciendome ....esto...

Y que es esto?? Pues....

Has it happened to you that when you have three or four projects "going" is when you feel "the urge to do "something else"...even if it's "small"?? well...that's exactly what happened to me today (and a million time before :P) As you guys know I'm with the Sampler...The Hearts SAL...the biscornu and scissor fob swap...and "sew on"... but today...after I spent some time stitching one of the hearts and laughing at myself... 'cause it looked like everything BUT leaves....I said I'm going to "relax doing something different" LOL...It's incredible how we make excuses to get ourselves in more problems...don't you think?

So I end up making this....

And what is "this"??...well...

Un bolsito para nuestro Ipod...o

A little pouch for the Ipod... or

O para nuestro mobil.... muy lindo, practico y facil de hacer...

the cell phone...is cute, practical and easy to make...

Como pueden ver se pueden colgar POR FUERA en nuestros bolsos y asi cuando le de por sonar...no tener que estar buscando entre los cuatrocientos cincuenta y cuatro mil docientos treinta y nueve "articulos" que cada una tiene DENTRO del bolso...

As you can see it can be hang in the OUTSIDE of our purse, man purse of backpacks...so when it rings we don't have to go through the four hundred and fifty four thousands two hundred and thirty nine "things" that each of us carry INSIDE the purse...

Hasta en bolsos de formas no convencionales se pueden llevar...

We can even use it with "wierd shaped" purses like mine...LOL

Y como al terminarlo me quedo un trocito todavia de tela pues...

me hice un monederito.... que tal?

Sera demasiado tarde?? Would it be too late??

Desde que abri mi blog hace cinco meses ... una de las cosas que me llamo mucho la atencion primero porque la idea que es muy linda y segundo porque lo veia en muchos de los blogs...fue el intercambio de bloques 15x15... Todos estos meses he estado en que "quiero hacerlo" y de ahi no pasaba... Por eso al llegar el nuevo año me dije que iba a hacer mis cuadritos y que ya sea que logre intercambiar muchos o pocos sera algo muy lindo ...

Ever since I opened my blog... like five months ago... something that caught my attention first because it's a wonderful idea and second because I've seen it in soo many blogs... was the 15x15 blog swap.... In the past months I've been in the " I want todo the swap"...but it didn't go farther than that. This year I told myself that I was going to make my blocks for the swap... and if I get tons or very few...it will be great!

Pues eso!! Que esta entrada es para "presentarles" mi cuadrito 15x15...Espero que mas de una quiera intercambiar... me gustaria tener cuadritos de ustedes con quienes comparto mi amor por las artesanias... mi tiempo...y tambien mi cariño...

Empezamos con el Sampler~~ Here we go with the Sampler...

Llego el dia de empezar nuestro Sampler... Todas estamos muy animadas y yo en lo personal le agradezco a Esperanza por organizarlo... estoy segura que sera una actividad que nos llenara de satisfacciones...

The day is here to start our Sampler... We are all very excited and I personally want to thank Esperanza for organizing this... I'm pretty sure it's going to be an activity that will bring us lots of satisfactions...

Y comenzamos con el primer blog, el llamado "Rail Fence"...

And we are starting with the Rail Fence block...

La mayoria de las chicas trabajan en cm... yo seguire con las pulgadas...

Estare utilizando telas de la coleccion Gypsy Rose de Fig Tree Quilts para Moda...

Primero busque tres telas de colores distintos del claro al oscuro...

The majority of the girls work in centimeters... I'll stick to the inches...

I will be using fabrics from the Gypsy Rose collection by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda...

First I looked for three different fabrics from light to dark...

Luego las corte en tiras de 1-1/4 "

Then I cut strips of 1-1/4"

Cosi las tiras entre si de oscuro a claro...

I sewed them together from dark to light...

Haciendo costuras de 1/4"... Si tienen una guia en su maquina no se olviden de usarla...

Then I cut the strips into 2-3/4" squares...

The next step was to sew the squares...

Comenzando de izquierda a derecha para formar tres unidades de tres...

Starting from left to right and forming units of three...

No hay que olvidarse de prensar o planchar muy bien nuestras costuras para que no nos quede el bloque con "bultos"...

We can't forget to press or iron our seams so there are no bulky spots...

Volvemos a la maquina y ahora cosemos las unidades de arriba hacia abajo... o sea la de arriba a la del medio y la del medio a la de abajo...

We go back to the sewing machine and now we sew the units from the top down... meaning the top one to the middle one and the middle one to the bottom one...

Y ya tenemos nuestro bloque Rail Fence... que con estas medidas nos queda de 7-1/4" x 7-1/4"

And now we have our Rail Fence Block ... that with this measurements end up as a 7-1/4" x 7-1/4" block

Ah!! Casi me olvido de algo... Espe nos tiro un desafio... a ver si nos atreviamos a mostrar nuestro bloque por la parte de atras.... Y....

Oh!! I almost forgot something... Esperanza gave us a challenge... to see if we dare show our blocks from the back.... aaannnd....

Sip!... Si me atrevo!! Aqui esta Espe....mi bloque por detras ;-)

Yeap!!... I do!! Here it is... the back of my block!! ;-)

Y aunque fue en pulgadas... el resultado fue el deseado por Esperanza...

And even though it was made in inches... the results were the ones asked by Esperanza

18cm X 18 cm!!

A que si??
